The Police Station at Kallambalam was opened on 20.03.1986 by the Hon'ble Home Minister Sri. Vayalar Ravi Vide G.O(Rt) No. 3525/85 Dated 24/12/1985 in Private Building taken on rent for Government purpose building No. KP.I/84 owned by V.Haridas. Monthly rent of Rs.1192/- per month. Due to the dilapidated condition a new building was constructed by KPHCC and station was shifted in to new building on 24.09.2013 to Governemnt Building No.KP.28/175-A of Karavaram Gramapanchayath cituated in Sy.No.215/3-1 of Karavaram Village in Block No.40 of Chirayinkeezhu Taluk.

The new building was inagurated by Honourable Home and Vigillance Minister Sri.Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan. Kallambalam Police Station was under the Circle limit of Varkala. The jurisdiction of Kallambalam Police Station comprises of Villages Ottoor, Manamboor, Navaikkulam, Chemmaruthy, Karavaram, Kudavoor. Thus in total Kallambalam Police Station has an area covering about 69.25 Sq Km and population of about 98000. The station building is situated Azhamkonam Junction, adjacent to NH -47.
